Lest we forget palm oil! This is extremely informative. Thank you for taking the time to research and break it all down in a way that is simple to understand and, most importantly, actionable!
Glad you found this interesting! Palm oil is actually not a seed oil. Palm kernel oil, however, is but it's not as commonly used as the others. Palm oil is similar to coconut oil, nutrition-wise, but is controversial mainly because of the environmental impact (deforestation, climate change).
Hi! Thank you so much for this post! I get really confused regarding seed oils, because I read such opposing thoughts on the topic. For example, I read that canola oil is much lower in saturated fatty acids than olive oil and has a higher amount of omega 3s as well. So is it the processing of the oil that is most deterring to you? What are your thoughts? :)
Hmm, so many of my go-to chefs use grapeseed oil as their choice for high smoke point, flavorless oil in recipes. I use OO if I’m out but if I’m not eating processed food (or very little) and cooking with such a small amount, is it really an issue?
Probably not! I think avocado oil is better but you can use expeller pressed organic grapeseed oil if you need to. I gave some examples of this in the piece.
Thank you for this! SUPER helpful given all of the news. Even my dad is talking about seed oils now.

The conventional chicken info is wild! I eat so much chicken, I will be looking at the links rather than the brands I have been buying… thank you!!
