Happy Labor Day weekend, friends! From a nutrition perspective, holiday weekends can seem tough. And I get it: hot dogs, ice cream, chips, so many chips. It’s really easy to get consumed by trying to make the right choices, but being social has it’s benefits too. Connecting with other people actually releases oxytocin and dopamine which come with a range of health benefits, like decreased stress, immune health, improved mood, pain relief, and more. There have even been studies linking social connections to longevity. So, this is your reminder to enjoy that extra day off (if you have it) and have fun in a way that doesn’t make you feel like crap. Fill that darn cup.
I thought about sending this email tomorrow (Monday), but I’m sending it today with a family-style salad you might want to consider making for your holiday BBQ today or tomorrow. If you’ve been here a while you might already know this, but I love a family-style salad. It’s abundant, a show-stopper, and packs in so many flavors and nutrients on one plate. If you want to wow your friends and offer a healthy addition to the typical holiday spread, make this! You won’t regret it.
Okay, happy holiday weekend and happy cooking! Thanks for reading and being here. xx

Alright friends, let’s cook!!
The week starts with the most epic family-style salad and is followed by a series of simple meals with maximum flavor. Because of the holiday, we have 4 instead of our normal 5 recipes this week. I get that cooking after the “unofficial last weekend of summer” can feel extra tough, so let’s lighten up the load with some delicious and satisfying meals that hit the spot in 30 minutes (or less).
