Sunday Meal Prep | Week of December 15
2024 recap and a Moroccan stew for my last Substack of the year!
This is my last Substack of the year. We’re taking two weeks off to reboot and recharge, and when we return you might see a new look here (get excited, I am!).
So, before we get into the Moroccan stew, let me just thank you so much for being here. I’ll still never believe that anyone is reading these emails, so for everyone who has sent me a message, stopped me at the farmer’s market, or a 4-year old birthday party and told me that you make these recipes, it truly makes my entire day, week, month—all of it!!!
Substack has been my work highlight of 2024. Reflecting on my first full year on this platform, I thought I would reshare some of the posts you loved the most in case you missed them or want to revisit.
Nutrition is just as much about the logistics as it is about the science. As I always tell my 1:1 clients, I know a lot about the science, but you are the expert of you. The goal here is to make healthy living and eating home-cooked meals more accessible and enjoyable—I’m trying to weave in the science in a way that is simultaneously practical and fun (read: delicious). So, if there are any topics, themes, or recipes you’d like to see here in 2025, please let me know in the comments.
And don’t worry—I would never leave you high and dry (or recipe-less) for the last two weeks of the year. If you’re looking for a meal prep menu over my holiday hiatus, try this one or this one.
Happy cooking (& holidays)!
xx Mia
A few meal prep adjacent things I’m into:
Beyond the Plate: The Program
I could not be more excited about the amazing group we have signed up for my new group nutrition coaching program. We’re starting January 15th and still have some spots left. Sign up early to reserve your spot and get $100 off.
A few of you have asked about gifting the program (love that idea)—just let us know in the intake form when you sign up and we’ll make sure to add the right person to the group (and keep it a secret if needed).
Last minute gifts
Speaking of gifts, I’m resharing all my favorite “feel good” gift ideas for those of you who still haven’t finished their holiday shopping.
If you’re looking to shop small, I have some very talented friends with incredible holiday offerings. My friend
(an excellent Substack follow, btw) has curated the most insane collection of home and kitchen items that will last generations—check out Permanent Collection and use the code FANNY10 for a discount. And these cute hand-painted napkins by Aubree Holmes are so adorable and would brighten up any meal. Order by 12/19 to get in time for Christmas.A few weeks ago I got some stewing meat (basically chuck or round that is cut into cubes) from the butcher and decided to make a beef stew. I gave it a Moroccan touch with warm spices, including whole cinnamon sticks, to flavor the broth and a can of chickpeas. It was honestly so easy and delicious, which is why it’s making it debut in our final meal prep of 2024. The dish itself doesn’t take very long to make, but it tastes better the longer it sits, so I’d recommend making it tonight to have tomorrow. I love these kind of recipes because you can just heat and eat it—which is just what I’m looking for on a Monday night in December.
Also on the menu this week: a high protein pesto pasta, miso salmon, and za’atar crusted chicken.
Alright, let’s cook!!
