Letting oneself look like oneself. Not torturing your hair into submission. Not contouring your face into a mask. Natural nails of a practical length that lets one actually do things. Serendipity and spontaneity. Not performing every detail of your experience for the camera. And for the love of all things holy and unholy not practicing the “camera eats first” philosophy of dining! And please note: none of this requires a trip over the Atlantic although I never refuse a plane ticket in that general direction….😂

this is ALL very true, BUT i also think that our nervous systems are just more regulated in europe when we're there. we're actually present, mindful, slowed down, and not rushing. this makes a massive difference in your health.

I was in France in May and are soo much delicious butter with yummy baguettes with zero side effects aka not feeling crummy or bloated afterwards - and a net weight loss. The ingredients are also far superior (stating the obvious)

Oh I do love a good Europe trip — the emphasis on times outdoors is truly my favorite part! I’m convinced that seeing everyone else relaxing outside makes you want to do the same. While I try to frequent my local parks, it’s just not built into daily life like it is there. So glad you enjoyed your time away!

100% team Ginori-obsessed! Paris Museums in gorgeous parks and the kids amusement park with adorable rides was charming not tacky and gross.

With your post in which you seem quite surprised by very basic details of the way of life of most Europeans, you don't give a positive idea of the American way of life...

It’s a playful commentary on basic things in Europe that we could use in the US.

Produce that doesn’t taste like pesticides and is sold only in season. We’re taking our kids to Europe for the first time next summer and I told them they’re required to try the vegetables, and I guarantee they’ll actually like them. (I also turn over beautiful tableware at restaurants, please stay away from Chairish if you’re into vintage tableware collections. Or build another cabinet!)

The UK is still in Europe. While no longer part of the European Union politically, we remain part of Europe geographically (along with other non-EU countries such as Norway, Switzerland etc).
