I spend more time in my kitchen than anywhere else in the house, and there are a few products that I am very passionate about. These are things that save me time, make the cooking process easier, and are nontoxic, of course (I got so many questions about this after my microplastics post). Okay, here we go:
Larch Wood Cutting Board
I recently upgraded to this cutting board and I love it. The wood is beautiful and high quality and it has little rubber feet so it doesn’t move around or sit right on top of the counter (where it’s likely to get wet and warp). I’ve also gotten a lot of questions about nontoxic alternatives to plastic cutting boards and I like this rubber option or Material Kitchen’s rePrep cutting boards which are made of BPA-free recycled plastic and sugarcane. I would, however, recommend keeping both of these out of the dishwasher.
Ekobo Recycled Bamboo Colander & Pour Set
Gosh I am obsessed with this. It’s perfect for washing produce, straining pasta (and saving the pasta water!), making pancake batter and so much more. I use this every single day. You need it.
Breville Bambino Plus
I’ve become incredibly particular about my coffee. And it really all started when my Husband got this coffee machine for his birthday last year. It’s shockingly user friendly for us non barista folk—it makes a great espresso and has a great steamer. I use Canyon Coffee (organic and regenerative!), Needed collagen powder (use my code MIA20 for a discount) and Eden Foods Unsweetened Soy Milk (yup). My morning flat white has about 25 grams of protein and it’s divine.
Aarke Carbonator
I love sparkling water and used to buy so many bottles and cans, but no more! My recycling bin is getting way less action since buying this, and I have to say I prefer the taste of fresh sparkling water with lime juice to any canned drink out there. The bottle is non toxic and BPA free and there’s also the option of the Carbinator Pro which has a glass bottle.
Bench Scraper
Everyone needs a bench scraper. It’s the easiest way to get your chopped veg into the frying pan. This inexpensive kitchen tool will make cooking (and clean up) much much easier.
Material Kitchen Iconics Set
This set has everything you need in a clean, well designed countertop holder. The side is magnetic for your knives and the well is filled with essential kitchen tools like a whisk, tongs, spatula, etc. If you’re getting this, add The Sharpener to your cart as well. This $15 contraption is so easy to use and will keep your knives in great shape. My trick for knowing when I need to sharpen my knife: when cutting an onion makes me teary. This means you’re pressing the juice out of the onion (that’s what makes you cry!) and not getting a clean cut. A sharp knife = no tears.
Loved this post, thank you for sharing your must-haves
