On the menu this week: family-style steak frites, tropical salmon bowls, & more!
Sunday Meal Prep | Week of June 15th
Happy Sunday, readers!
I know 90% (maybe more?) of you are women, but Happy Father’s Day to the handful of dads reading this—including my husband and dad. In honor of the day, we’re making chimichurri steak frites tonight with a little gem salad and moorish sweet potato fries. I love this dish: it’s simple yet elevated, fun to share, and full of protein and plants.
I am committed to providing approachable, affordable and (dare I say) enjoyable nutrition resources. If you’d like to support this work, share this post with a friend or consider becoming a free or paid subscriber. Thank you, as always, for being here!
I also want to take a moment to acknowledge the heaviness in the air these days. I’m in LA, and while life looks eerily normal, there’s a sense of uncertainty that’s hard to ignore. It can feel strange to carry on as usual, but this is when taking care of ourselves really matters.
“Wellness” isn’t something reserved for January or when life is calm—it’s how we show up for ourselves when things feel messy or overwhelming. Increased anxiety, bad news, and negative energy are all valid reasons to want takeout, wine, and dessert, but do your best to stick to your rituals. You’ll feel better for it. And if there was ever a time to lead with kindness, empathy, and compassion, this is it.
Sending love and hugs. xx
Now, let’s get to it.
A few meal-prep adjacent things I’m currently into:
A lot of glutathione. There’s been a little bug in my house, so this has been a daily ritual for me. Glutathione is your body’s master antioxidant and it’s one of my favorite supplements to help me get back on track when I’m feeling a little sick or for a little extra support if someone in my house is. I like the packets from LivOn Labs over the bottles because the bottles can only be used for 30 days once opened and they don’t travel well.
I’ve been religious with my facial devices, which includes this red light mask 3-5x a week (normally 3) and nanocurrent 3x a week with my Ziip (discount code: MIA) and I am feeling (slash seeing) the results.
And it’s getting to air dry hair season (for me at least). If you read my post on Friday, you know this already, but I love this duo of leave-in conditioner and air dry mousse.
I got a new mom bag (which I think is technically for tennis) and it’s perfect. Lots of compartments and a waterproof lining. Very into it.
I have a few crisp white shirts, but of course this is the only one I really like (and it had a huge stain on it) so after a lot of humming a hawing, I got a new one.
I think I just really like eating this time of year. These are the alfresco meals I dream of: family-style steak frites with a huge crunchy salad, tropical salmon bowls with the yummiest carrot ginger dressing, a 15-minute ground chicken larb, shrimp and quinoa salad…are you with me yet?
I can’t wait to see what you make this week! Please don’t forget to tag me on Instagram or share in our chat! Are you on the chat???
