Happy Sunday, readers.

Last week, I co-hosted the loveliest little dinner party with my friend Carly Maltzman, founder of

Donabe With Me
. Carly teaches incredible donabe cooking classes here in LA, and she invited me to collaborate on a summer kick-off menu—our take on a vibrant, vegetable-packed plant party.

Is this not the perfect al fresco dinner setting? I was also so excited to finally wear this dress. The red is so cute too.

If you’re not familiar, a donabe is a traditional Japanese clay pot that’s as stunning as it is functional. It cooks food gently and evenly, drawing out deep, layered flavors—and looks gorgeous on the table, too.

Carly and I put together what was basically my dream meal: an abundance of peak-season vegetables from the farmers market, richly glazed Faroe Island salmon, and DIY pavlovas with stone fruit, yuzu curd, and vanilla cream. I think we clocked almost 30 plants in just this one meal. Talk about nutritious.

Literally my dream meal!!! And how cute are these menus?!

We served this delicious meal alongside a selection of Sophie James wines—my favorite organic, biodynamic and regenerative wines. All Sophie James wines are made from 100% organically-farmed grapes and contain zero grams of sugar, and no harmful, unnatural additives. If you’re going to drink, this is as good as it gets! Join their Wine Club if you want to try.

I’m thrilled that Carly shared two of the recipes from the night with us—both of which are on the menu tonight:

  • Miso-Yuzu Glazed Salmon with Blistered Tomato & Corn Sauté

  • Donabe Farro with Shishito Peppers, Haricots Verts & Sesame-Tamari Drizzle

Almost too pretty to eat!!

If you have a donabe, amazing. If not, don’t worry—these recipes are just as delicious made with what you have. This would be a good night to invite your neighbors over. Follow Carly and you will almost certainly want to add a donabe to your kitchen collection.

A few meal-prep adjacent things I’m currently into:

  • The best sunscreen on the planet is Protect from LINNÉ Botanicals. It’s feels like a luxurious addition to my skincare routine, instead of some smelly, cakey thing. I use this stuff every day, all year, and I put on Freya’s sweet little baby face too. A little goes a long way. Use the code MIAXLINNE for a discount.

  • I am so excited to try out Windmill—a new air purifier with an advanced medical-grade HEPA filter that eliminates 99.97% of harmful particles like allergens, smoke, pet dander, and VOCs (which after the January fires in LA we know too much about). The design is sleek and it’s QUIET. Use the code MIA10 for a discount.

  • You all know I’ve been on my weight lifting journey, and the thing about lifting is that it just gets harder. Gahh. I’ve really been having to motivate myself at the gym, and I know I’ve talked about this before, but I am completely dependent on my BOSE headphones, weight lifting gloves, and Nike Metcons (the perfect lifting shoe). I have about 6 weeks left to get to my 10 pull ups, and I’m not quite there yet.

  • True Botanicals is having an anniversary sale, and so many of my favorites are 30% off. Stock up on the Renew Pure Radiance Oil, Chebula Eye Patches (biodegradable), and Bronze Well Regenerative Glow Drops (which I love to mix with my Protect sunscreen).

Okay, let’s cook!

Yesterday was the first official day of summer and the longest day of the year, so the dishes this week are a reflection of that: vibrant, flavorful, simple, and best enjoyed al fresco. We’re starting the week with a miso-yuzu salmon, but also have my favorite chicken paillard with a minty grapefruit and olive salad, french lentils, and more. Enjoy!
