Happy Sunday, friends.

We had a stretch of gloomy days in Venice this week, which hit a little harder after a chaotic weekend, my husband being out of town, and staying up too late watching The Handmaid’s Tale (anxiety levels = high). Needless to say, I’ve been feeling a little wiped.

When I’m tired like this, my motivation tanks. I didn’t want to cook. I had a whole list of reasons not to work out—including “my muscles need more rest,” lol. But I went. I moved my body. And (shocker) I felt so much better afterward.

It’s a slippery slope. I’ve been on my own journey with food and wellness—one that led me to this work—but I’m still a regular person who gets tired and orders takeout.

Sometimes I have to give myself the same pep talk I give my clients: If I can just carve out a little time for a home-cooked meal, a good night’s sleep, and some movement, I will feel better.

These days, that pep talk doesn’t take quite as much effort. Years of practice (and proof) have made the benefits undeniable. But if you're just getting started—or feeling extra depleted—you’ve got me to help with the convincing. 😜

So, if you’re feeling run down, let this be your nudge to shift the momentum. Go grocery shopping. Make a plan for the week. Cook tonight’s chicken recipe (it’ll give you leftovers for days). Go to bed early. Your future self—like, tomorrow morning—will thank you.

Thank you for being here!! It’s my mission to make healthy eating (and living) less stressful and more fun—if you’d like to support this work, upgrade your subscription and make something from this week’s menu (don’t forget to send me a pic!). It’s $8/a month—or literally 1/2 the price of a smoothie from your local juice spot (1/3 of the price if you live in LA).

In other news (literally): I’m in The Wall Street Journal this weekend (!) talking about one of my favorite topics—creatine. Online (read it here if you have the stamina to get through the paywall) and in print!! My 22-year-old PR assistant self would be thrilled with that physical copy. Just one small correction: when I was interviewed, I could do 8 pull-ups. Now I can do 9. Creatine at work. Boom!

My friend Alexa sent me this—the same friend who coined “fun fish summer”

If you’re curious to learn more, here’s a piece I wrote all about creatine—what it is, why it matters, and how to take it. My current rotation includes Thorne, MindBodyGreen (this link gets you a 25% discount), and Arrae (the gummy is surprisingly good!).

A few meal-prep adjacent things I’m currently into:

  • I checked out the buzzy new cleaning brand Alter:Bio, and I’m impressed. Beyond the gorgeous packaging, their biotech-powered formulas are microbiome-safe and meet strict EU ingredient standards—aka better for your gut and your space. Feel free to use my code MIA10 if you want to try it.

  • Every summer I treat myself to a couple of Doên staples, and this year it’s all about the shorts. I got two pairs: a black eyelet style and a silky, lace-trimmed white pair (sadly, sold out in most sizes—but this cotton version is still in stock). I’ll be living in them with a tee and flip-flops. Also picked up a fresh pair of my favorite denim shorts (discount code: MIA15).

me + my new shorts yesterday. anket is also 10/10
  • The sweatshirt I’ll be wearing on repeat all summer. Lightweight, cozy, and just the right amount of slouchy.

  • I guess I’m a print newspaper and magazine girl now. Did you see Lenny Kravitz’s AD feature? OMG. This video tour is pretty great, but pic up the mag—it’s good. Why is he so cool?

  • I went to the most inspiring talk with author Dr. Gertrude Lyon and my friend

    Victoria de la Fuente
about Dr. Lyon’s new book: Rewrite the Mother Code. Loved this take on motherhood as something you shape, not just something that shapes you. I’m going to dig into it this week. Stay tuned.

  • It’s Father’s Day next weekend. I don’t have a fancy guide for you, but I love love love JackFir—the best nontoxic skincare products for men. At the very least, maybe he’ll stop using your stuff.

Dinner’s looking very good this week: Mediterranean chicken platter, halibut puttanesca, Thai turkey meatballs, and mor. Easy, tasty, protein-y, plant-y—basically ticking all the boxes. Bon appétit, friends.
